In India we are bombarded with several inviting value for money offers on calls and messaging everyday by our network provider but there are still a couple of free services on the internet that we use very often. One of the most used website on the internet is 160by2 which lets you send messages anywhere in your country for free. Now 160by2 official app is available for your iPhone and Android phones.
The very first time you start the app, you will have to register your mobile number and a valid email account. Then you would receive a password for your newly registered mobile number and then you can login into your account using your mobile number and received password.
On the very main interface of the app we have sections like Send SMS, Post SMS, Browse SMS, Import Address Book, Import 160by2 Contacts, Contacts, SMS Inbox, SMS Outbox and My account.
In the Send SMS section you can enter the numbers or contact names in the top section by tapping Add More and then selecting individual contacts or groups(we will tell you how to create groups later) In the section below then you will have to type in your text message and hit Send present at the top corner of the screen.
In the Post SMS section one can actually create message templates in a particular category. When you hit the share button the same is posted on your web account.
The browse sms section is the third and very interesting section as here you will see a number of categories of SMSs.
The fact that makes it interesting is that in those categories you will get a handful of wonderful preset message templates which you can use instantly to send. Tap on the message template and on the next screen add the contacts and hit send.
The import address book feature imports all your address book from your web account on the website.
Similarly the Import contacts feature imports all the contacts from the website.
Under contacts section you can import all your phone contacts. You can use Edit button and delete contacts if you don’t want them in the list. If you wish to send a message to a couple of contacts just select as many as you want by tapping on it and then hitting the button at the bottom right corner with a right sign.
Coming back to the groups which we talked about earlier, press Groups and then you can create groups or delete them by hitting edit.
On the main screen in the Inbox section you see all the received messages. One can sort the messages by tapping the calendar or the date by using the left and right arrows. Press Get and the app will retrieve all your messages from your web account.
Similarly the Outbox section contains all the sent messages.
Lastly from the My account section you can see your account details, logout the account or change the mobile number and the password.
App Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 3.1 or later
Conclusion: By far this is is one of the coolest free messaging app so download it today
