Cydia repositories are updated with new tweaks on a daily basis. Of the recent ones, the one that we liked is AppUpdateNotifier. Some of you who are smart enough, must have guessed what function this tweak performs but who haven’t guessed it, don’t worry as we are here to review the same for you.
We download several apps from the App Store and while we are using the apps, respective developers come up updates of their apps which feature more functions and bug fixes. Surprisingly, the app store does not notify you about a new update and you can only rely on the badge on the App Store icon.
AppUpdateNotifier is an amazing tweak that notifies of these uninformed updates through push notifications. So even if you are unaware of the latest update of a app, the app will check it for you and display the same in a banner. The app is not for free but if you have some pirate repositories added, you can get it for free. To download, go to Cydia and search AppUpdateNotifier.
Once you respring the springboard, head to settings and look for AppUpdateNotifier.
Under the same you will see that it is enabled by default. If you want you can disable it anytime using the toggle. The Check for updates section has Hourly, Daily, Weekly and Monthly settings. So depending on how frequently check for updates, select an option.
The Ignore list can be used to select the apps for which you do not want to get the updates. Here I have selected Flixel and iDrive, so I will not get any push notifications for updates on either of the two.
As you can see, this is a banner notification for the current updates available on the app store.
This is what you Notification Center looks like when you have updates.
Lastly this is the LockScreen with update notifications for respective apps.
App Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.
Conclusion: Worth downloading. I do not find any reason to not use this tweak.
