Readability is one of the most cleverly created reading platform for your computer and after a pretty long wait the developers have finally released an application of the same for iPad and iPhone.
Undoubtedly the iOS version is as impressive as the desktop version and thrills you with its features. The app can only be used with a valid Readability ID and fortunately it is extremely easy to create one right from the iOS app. For those of you who don’t know about Readability, it is a platform that lets you save webpages to its server and lets you read them later. What makes it more special is the freedom to customize the look of the article or news that you have saved in order to read it more comfortably.
Once you get past the log in screen and reach the main interface, the app will amaze you. So sleek and so beautiful and most importantly very neat. The main screen would have all the webpages in a list. To delete, archive or add a page to favorites right from the main screen, just swipe on an article towards right and a small pane will appear from where you can take the required action.
Towards the top of the screen you can see a long button saying Reading List. This section contains all your archived pages, favorites as well as reading list. Tap on it and move to any of the sections.
More options like edit, search, add and settings can be accessed by using the button with three dots(…) present at the top right corner of the main screen.
If you want to use the in-app browser and look for webpages, enter the search section. To add a page instantly to the reading list, press the + button and paste the URL. If you want to move or delete a page, press edit and do so.
Then we have the last settings section at right top corner. From here you can access your account, change the text formatting, theme, enable twitter and facebook sharing etc.
Coming back to the main screen, to read a page just tap on it and the app will open the same in a separate view. To open the webpage in its real format you can tap on WEB VIEW. If you tap on the page itself you will further get a couple of options at the bottom of the page.
The first Star button adds the page to your favorites list.
The second button with a box adds the page to archives list.
The middle trash button can be used to delete the page from your reading list. To change the text size and colour theme between day and night, tap on the Aa button.
Lastly you have the share button which can be used to mail the page, share it on facebook and twitter, copy the link and open it in Safari. To come back to the Reading List on the main screen, just push the page towards the right using the swipe gesture.
I am sure you readers would definitely this app and it is sure that you will like it too.
App Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 4.2 or later.
