Although it is quite of a task to surf the Internet on iPhone, we do spend a large amount of time doing so. To search even a single work on Google, i would have to launch safari, wait for the previously opened page to load and then type in what i have to search. What if i need to search on Bing or Yahoo and not Google, then i will have to open Bing or Yahoo homepage and then enter the words.
I always wished this searching to be a bit easier, like on Android, where you get a stock Google widget with which you can search anything from the home screen without opening the browser.
With the latest Cydia tweak named as InstaURL, you can search on Google, Bing and Yahoo from anywhere on your iPhone. You can download the app for free from Cydia by searching the keywords InstaURL. After installing, head to your stock iPhone settings to configure the app.
Inside the app’s settings section, you will find two sub sections, Activation Method and Search Site.
Under activation methods you can set an activation button. For myself i chose Short hold on volume down button.
Under search site you need to select a default search engine on which you wish to search your content.
Now you can use the activation method to activate the app and a small pop up screen will open. Here you can type in the letters and press go and the app will open up the page in Safari.
Here i had searched Appstouse on Bing and the image below is the result.
App Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.
Conclusion: Great app. Searches well on Bing and Yahoo but when searched on Google, it opens its homepage.
