If you have forgotten the passcode of your iPhone then the only option you have is to restore it, it might happen that you will lose all the data on your iPhone, but if you have a habit of taking regular backup then you won’t have lost much of the data. In earlier firmware versions there will certain work around like going to the root directory through any of the iPhone explorer tools and then getting rid of the passcode file to bypass the forgotten passcode, or you might want to get inside your iPhone through emergency call screen, but then all these do not work anymore as with every upgrade in the firmware these have already been taken care of.
So, the only option you have is to restore your iPhone. Just follow the steps mentioned below:
- First of take the usual backup of your iPhone so that you should not lose any data after the restore is completed. Once this is done put your phone is DFU mode.
- In order to reset the passcode you cannot go for a normal restore because the passcode will not allow the user to do so. Now press the power button and home button simultaneously and your phone will get switched off, do not leave the phone unless you see an icon displaying data cable to be connected with iTunes symbol. As soon as you see this screen mentioned below, you should know that your phone has entered the recovery mode.
- Now your iTunes will block all the options available for your phone and it will ‘popup’ a message asking you to restore your phone. So this way you can restore your phone get rid of the previous passcode and then use the last backup to put all the deleted data back on your iPhone.
Apart from this I am sure that you will not find any other method to access your phone when you have forgotten the passcode. Even though if you manage to find one, then please do share with us.
