[Solved] Apps Stopped Downloading in Between on Android Phone, Tablet

One of our reader informed us about a problem he was facing as some of the apps on his phone stuck at downloading while he tried to download them from the play store, this problem persisted for him even after restarting his android phone.

This problem mostly does not happen on most of the high end android phones which has powerful hardware but its quite common on mid range android phones, again its not limited to a specific android phone from a company or a brand.

For some users things more complicated when they are unable to remove the app stuck in downloading from the notification or semi downloaded app from the phone. In such cases you can easily fix this issue by following some of the methods below and some of them will surely work in your case.

Try Restarting Your Android Phone

The most simple way to fix this issue is by turning off the phone while the app is downloading or stuck in most of the case the app which was getting downloaded should go away and then you can go to google play store and reinstall the app from there again or we recommend that you don’t install that app if it not compatible with your android phone.

Clear The Cache of Android Play Store App

Another successful way to fix this issue which actually worked for many users is to clear the cache of play store app from application manager on your phone so that play store starts downloading the stuck app without any issues.

For this you will need to go to android phone settings >> application manager and then go to all applications and locate google play store.


Tap to go to google play store app settings and then you have to clear the cache of android google play store app by tapping on clear cache button.


Most of the time when you clear the cache like this of the play store app, the stuck app should start downloading normally or you may need to restart the android device.

Uninstall Play Store App Updates

In some of the cases users reported that, this issue started appearing after they updated the android play store app on the phone, so if you uninstall the new updates that could also help you to fix this if above methods are not working in your case.

For this you need to tap on the button under app settings which says Uninstall Updates.
