iPhone Camera Launch Icon On Lock Screen Without iOS 5 On iPhone [For Jailbroken Devices]

iOS has been recently announced by Steve Jobs and there are large number new features and modifications in iOS 5 like Notification Center, New Integrated Reminder app etc.


One such small but new useful feature is that ios 5 allows you to place the iphone camera launch shortcut on your iphone lock screen which allows you to launch the camera app quickly without requiring to unlock the iphone.

There is a free app which you can install if you iphone is jailbroken from cydia, called CameraLock which allows you to place the camera shortcut on iphone lock screen, but before you can install this app or tweak through cydia you will first need to add a new repository by following the steps below.

  • Launch Cydia from your jailbroken iPhone home screen.

  • Tap on the Manage Tab and then tap on Sources.
  • Tap on the Edit button and then tap add to add the following repo URL to add sources:
  • After it is successfully installed, tap on the Search tab and search for CameraLock.
  • Tap on CameraLock to install it on your iPhone.

Once the app is installed, By default, you can access the Camera icon on the Slide to Unlock button by double clicking the Home button after installing this jailbreak tweak.

You can change the settings (Settings app -> CameraLock) to always show the camera button on the right side as shown in the image below.
