Lock or Hide iPhone Camera Roll Photos & Videos

Privacy has always been a concern for smart phone users. When we talk about smartphones the first word coming to your mind in context with privacy is pictures. The moment we hand over our device to any of our friends, he or she would probably open the Photos app first and rifle through all your personal stuff. Today we will tell you about all the possible apps on cydia and apps store which could allow you to hide iphone camera roll photos & videos and you can also hide any album pictures also using the same app or cydia tweak.

Obviously in many cases you would hesitate lending your device even for a short while but if you are really concerned about your personal pictures, I have a better solution for you. Safety Photo+Video Free is an amazing utility that can not only password protect your pictures but videos a well. With this app you can easily add pictures and videos to secret albums and then relax as nobody, in any case, would be able to view them.

The app comes in both paid and free versions but since most of the users prefer trying the free version first, we are reviewing the same for you.Install the app and when you open it for the first time it asks you to choose one of the three passcode styles. Interestingly once you choose the style and set a password, the app automatically emails you the password so that in case you forget it, you wouldn’t have to worry much.

Since the pattern and passcode lock are seen in most of the apps I have chosen Rotate Dial as the style.

Once you configure your passcode and email it to yourself, you would come to the main interface of the app where you see three albums, Travel, Friends and Personal, by default. At the bottom of the screen you have four buttons, starting from the left we have setting, new album, edit and sync.

Under settings you can enable sound, change theme, enable auto-sleep, change the passcode and style, change slideshow time, share on facebook, twitter, email etc.

The next button for New Album can be used, as the name says, to add a new album. You can even enable passcode lock for the album separately.

Third is the edit button which can be used to delete an album, change its name and even turn on passcode protection.

Lastly you have the sync option which lets you upload and download pictures via itunes, your web browser and even bluetooth.

Now coming to the main feature of the app, to add a picture to an album, open the album and select the bottom left button which would open the camera roll. From here you can either select the complete camera roll or enter it and select a couple of pictures only. One can even add fresh pictures directly from the camera by tapping on the camera button inside an album. Once you have done so hit import and your pictures will be displayed in this secret album.

To further access the settings of a picture you can open it from here and take necessary actions like delete, email, print, etc.

What I Don’t Like About The Application

  • The free version only allows 11 pictures in one album so if you want to add more, it is better to upgrade to the paid version.
  • On adding the pictures to the app, you need to manually delete the pictures from the camera roll since the app does not delete them automatically and instead just copies them to the locked folders.

App Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 4.1 or later.

Conclusion: Works great but I really don’t like the limit set for the number of files
