Playup Brings Live Social Chat For Sports Fans Across The Globe [App Review]

Recently I came across this great app called Playup, This free-to-use app allows sport enthusiasts to follow over 30,000 live games across sports such as Cricket, Soccer, American Football, Baseball, Aussie Rules Football and many more.


Upon launching the free app users are presented with a choice of sports and fixtures. Special upcoming sporting events, such as IPL5 and the London Olympics are presented for easy access.

Users can log in using facebook or Twitter credentials and can invite their friends from those social networks. Users can create their individualized streams which allow them to get updates from other matches as they concentrate on their favourite fixtures. They can post messages in the match rooms and discuss the finer points of the games with the other fans. The app also provides real-time match statistics and, to take advantage of the Android platform, allows intuitive gesture-based navigation as shown in the image below.

To make you understand how the app works, follow the guided tour which will tell you about the all the features of the app and also tell you how to use it on iphone or android phone.

The very first time you launch the app you will be shown this the welcome screen which displays all the sports you can track with this app, we selected cricket because of the current ongoing Indian Premier League is going on right now.

But before you can start tracking any sports you will need to enter your facebook or twitter account so that this app could find more of your friends on facebook who using this app on their phones and tablets.


You will need to allow the access to your facebook wall, so that this app could post messages on your facebook wall when you type it under the app.


Once the facebook or twitter account it configured, you will need to type a unique username which will displayed to other users of the app or your friends using this app.



Now you can start using the app and either participate in the all fans general public hangout in which you can chat with fellow users using this app on the current match or sports and exchange your views.


You can also create Private Hangout [ or Private chat rooms ] limited to your friends in which you will chat about a current sport with your friends, no one else who in not invited in this private chat can view the messages posted.

Now you will need to specify the name of the Hangout and select it to be public or private.


Not only IPL, but in each sports category you can discuss about ODI, Test Cricket and more.


Can I Send Files In Hangout Chat In Playup?

Right now you can only send text chat, Playup team is planning to bring in more features like audio file transfer and video file also in upcoming months.

Right now Playup comes for both android and iPhone, they are planning to launch the windows phone app very soon.
